Which is exactly the reason the two charming stars decided to go back to the well once again, after 2003 hit "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days." This time out, instead of playing a couple falling in love, in "Fool's Gold" Hudson and McConaughey play an estranged married couple brought back together in the search for a lost treasure.
They were all smiles and hugs on Wednesday night at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood at the premiere of the flick, along with their other co-stars, including Donald Sutherland, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Ewen Bremner, and Alexis Dziena. Earlier in the week, McConaughey and Hudson chatted with reporters at Casa del Mar Hotel; and naturally, with the news of McConaughey's impending fatherhood, the talk turned to having families in real life.
"I am a happy man, thank you," the actor grinned. "Already, even with Camila just being pregnant now, the parenthood is begun. There is already a slight shift in the thoughts, the way I think about the future, and it has more of a ?we' to it instead of just a 'me.' That feels good, it's fine, and it hasn't really changed my point of view. It's just encompassed a little more quality."
But McConaughey insists that while his life is going to naturally change in some ways, in others he is steadfast about keeping on with what is working so well for him in the movies.
"Talking about a film like this, where we did a lot of stunts and got in a lot of dangerous situations. Do you stop doing those? Unequivocally, no. I don't want to be foolish, but I don't want a child that is going to come out and be afraid of the water!"
The other thing that isn't going to change is his marital status; as the 38-year-old, never married Texan explained about his relationship with the 24-year-old Alves and their plans to tie the knot, he said simply, "Don't have plans for that right now." |
